St John’s Point Lighthouse - Downpatrick

Established in 1844 this lighthouse had the primary objective of guiding ships safely into Dundrum Bay. This Bay had a long reputation for being a ship's graveyard. The original station layout consisted of a 45 foot structure tower and two dwellings.
