The imposing structure of Belfast Castle towers over the city below. Situated on Cave Hill, the castle is closely linked with the history of Belfast City. Replacing the original built by the Normans in the 12th century, the present castle was completed in 1870 and is a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture.
